Meet John Hince
John Hince’s journey is a tapestry of service, education, and leadership. A proud 1968 alumnus of the Virginia Military Institute, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in History—a foundation that propelled him into a life dedicated to serving his country and community.
In June 1969, Hince took to the skies with the U.S. Army as a fixed-wing aviator and intelligence officer. During his service he spent a year-long tour in the Republic of Vietnam. By August 1973, he concluded his military service with honor, having achieved the rank of captain.
Transitioning to civilian life, Hince embraced the role of educator and mentor in 1974, sharing his passion for history as a secondary teacher and coach. His commitment to education deepened, earning him a Master of Education in 1977. He shaped young minds until 1990, then ascended to the role of middle school administrator, a position he held until his retirement in 2005.
Hince’s dedication to service extended beyond education into political and community activism. Hince’s spirit of service flourished within the American Legion, where his leadership journey continued. He held roles of increasing responsibility, from post commander to the esteemed position of State Commander of Texas, demonstrating unwavering commitment to fellow veterans and their families. His political engagement is marked by his former service as Precinct Chairman in Brazos County, alongside his role as Chair of By-Laws Committee of the Brazos GOP, underscoring his dedication to Republican values.
A man of faith, Hince, alongside his wife Gerry, is an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brazos County. His story is one of dedication, service, and an enduring commitment to the values that shape leaders.
